Northern Front

A new reconnaissance flight was made over the Dessie area by the Escadrille d’Aden (Flight Lieutenant Jacques Dodelier, Yves Trecan Warrant Officer, Sergeant Ronan Michel and Joseph Portalis).[1]

 

Southern Front

In Kenya, the beginning of October is marked by the official transformation of the C Flight of No.1 (SAAF) Squadron in to the new No.2 (SAAF) Squadron. The latter is placed under the command of Captain St.Elmo Truter, with five Hawker Hurricane, nine Gloster Gladiator and nine Hakwer Fury.

The initial strength of the No.2 (SAAF) Squadron when it was formally established. The following personnel are noted: (in the background, from the left): Lieutenant Jack Phillips, Adrian M.
